Ysgubor Newydd (The New Barn) offers superb self-catering accommodation in the heart of one of Mid Wales’s most historic market towns. It’s part of that history. The accommodation is within Royal House, a rare urban medieval dwelling and Tudor merchant’s house in continuous use since the 15th century. In 2006 a major restoration – funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund – gave it a pivotal new role. One part became the Tourist Information Centre, while the old store was converted into Ysgubor Newydd. There are all modern comforts, yet the medieval character has been sympathetically retained. The ground-floor accommodation comprises one double and one twin-bedded room plus shared bathroom, with a large open-plan living room and kitchen upstairs.
