A unique heritage experience –a carefully and lovingly restored Norman Castle with contemporary features. Luxurious accommodation throughout, with fabulous bedrooms. Located close to the coast and ideal for exploring all of Pembrokeshire.

Visit Wales tells us that there are 641 castles in Wales. Compared to, say mighty Caernarfon or Harlech, Roch Castle is quite small, but it’s perfectly formed, and – more to the point – perfectly preserved. Definitely out are draughty corridors, damp rooms and medieval plumbing. Norman in origin, the castle was reconstructed just over 100 years ago. Today, it has a new lease of life as a unique heritage property dedicated to warmth and luxury, not warfare.

Its D-shaped tower, perched on a pinnacle of rock overlooking St Brides Bay, is approached by an immaculate gated driveway – a harbinger of things to come. Within, robust Roch Castle is cool and contemporary, smooth and stylish, intimate and welcoming. The massive walls and deep window sills cosset and envelope. classy details abound, from the heraldic plaque to subtle eco friendly lighting, arched doorways to designer staircase, a toasty modern woodburning stove warming deep leather sofas, chunky side furnishings to exclusive artisan ceramics and tapestries and object's d'art.

The lavish luxury bedrooms are something else, all take in the amazing elevated and far reaching views to the sea. Roch Castle doesn’t go in for creaky old four-posters. Its bedrooms are style personified, functional and yet very fashionable. The duvets, pillows, linen and beds are of the highest quality with huge Sealy mattresses and hypoallergenic toppers, while the Philippe Starck bathrooms come with luxury toiletries, proper monsoon showers, sparkling chrome and glamourous mirrors. The bespoke service includes breakfast of fresh local produce, prompt laundry and daily housekeeping. It’s a romantic and indulgent bolthole for couples, as perfect a place to ride out the winter storms as a base to enjoy all the joys of west Wales in the summer. Its perfect for exclusive use by larger groups, and a celebration here would not be complete without some Norman style feasting! (Private dining is available for the latter).

For individual guests, dinner is served at two Rosette Blas Restaurant at sister hotel, Twr y Felin, St Davids, with complimentary transfers available each evening.

There’s also an honesty bar. It’s the ideal location for exploring all of Pembrokeshire and is the sister property to Penrhiw Priory another Great Little Places.
