At the heart of every great little village there’s a great little inn. Mother-and-daughter team Beryl and Trudi run the extremely hospitable Lion. Popular with locals and visitors alike, it’s the place to go if you want a warm, welcoming insight into what makes rural communities tick.
The Lion’s popularity might also have something to do with its value for money. The food, as you’d expect, is good, wholesome and mainly locally sourced. The inn’s comfortable accommodation is extremely well priced – we’d say that it represents some of the best value in GLP.
So it’s little wonder that travellers seek out the pretty border village of Berriew for this 17th-century inn, located next to the church, and packed with period features like exposed beams and narrow passageways. Powis Castle and the Montgomery Canal are just two of the many local attractions.
