National Trust Tearooms

      Pork from the local butcher. Anglesey potatoes. These fine ingredients find their way into the delicious dishes at Whistlers, our tearoom. Take time out in our coffee shop in the house where Welshcakes are cooked daily by our accomplished baker.

      Try our rosemary drizzle cake, fragrant with herbs from the castle gardens. Served in the tearoom which was once the housekeepers quartersof this vast castle. Baked in a kitchedn, formerly the Still Room where pungent oils, extracted from herbs gathered on the estate, were once used to cure common ailments.

      The bounty of the garden has been put to good use in the tearoom at Bodnant. Lavender from the Lily Terrace adds a unique flavour to scones and shortbreads. The leaves of scented geranium are added to creamy syllabub. Local full flavoured Conwy Celebration Ale is the magical ingredient in a rich, moist fruit cake.

      The kitchen at Powys is buzzing as two new young chefs put heart and soul into delicious Welsh diches. Try their Welsh pork with roasted rhubarb. Stop off for a light bite at Lady Violets coffee shop in the lower gardens or tuck into a hearty lunch at Lady Henriettas tearoom.

      Juicy pheasant sausages made by local butcher Steve McArdle feature year-round at the tearoomin the medieval courtyard. Traditional pheasant shoots have been held on the estate since Sir Thomas Myddleton bought the castle in 1595.Buy them from our farm shop for sizzling suppers at home.

      Rose the cook has been working her magic in the restaurant at Erddig for 17 years, transforming fresh local ingredients into delicious dishes. Her lemon drizzle cake is legendary! This spring, her traditional bread and butter pudding is also drawing the crowds.

      Local ingredients hold centre stage in the tearoom at Newton House. Honey and red wine mustard from just outside Carmarthen, Celtic cuisine chtneys and preserves from Llandysul and Colliers Welsh cheddar from the valleys of Gwent.

      A mother and daughter partnership works culinary magic in the bothy tearooms. They make everything from the ten different cakes on offer to the chilli jam. Bread is from nearby Laugharne Baker, cheese from Caws Cymru in Cardigan and vegetables from TEnby. Dont miss warm Pembrokeshire potato salad with smoky bacon and blue cheese dressing.
