You’ll know that Philip and Anna Meadway are passionate gardening enthusiasts even before you meet them. The extensive grounds of their red-bricked Georgian house are filled with plants and those carefully contrived spaces and contrasts that are the hallmark of the confident, creative gardener. Firgrove’s prizewinning 11/2-acre gardens, latticed with paths that lead to quiet corners, are full of fragrance and fascination. The house itself is elegance epitomised, with immaculate downstairs rooms and comfortable, individually furnished bedrooms. The location is also superb. House and garden are set on a hillside overlooking the beautiful Vale of Clwyd and Clwydian Range. The medieval market town of Ruthin is on the doorstep, while the North Wales coast, Snowdonia and many castles, gardens and stately homes are only a short drive away – ‘days out’ itineraries can be provided. Evening meals are by prior arrangement.
