If there’s a better combination of coast and country, beach and beech, we’d like to hear of it. Huw Davies and David Child looked at over 40 properties before discovering Ffynnon Fendigaid. Their persistence landed them an old stone farmhouse, dating from 1775, that has been lovingly restored.

The rooms are luxuriously appointed and attention to detail is in evidence everywhere. So you stay at a farm that has swapped slurry for style - and, as a bonus, is close to the salty tang of the sea. Some guests are happy to chill out in Ffynnon Fendigaid’s lush six-acre grounds.

But they’re missing a treat, for Cardigan Bay’s sensational beaches and cliffs are just over two miles away from this rural idyll. This former farmhouse has other surprises too: the centrepiece of its separate self-catering cottage is a mighty theatre organ!
