Cyfie has been a long-standing member of Great Little Places. And it gets better and better! Cyfie’s upward curve is down to Claire and Neil Bale. They stayed as guests when its former owners ran it, and liked it so much that they bought it. It’s easy to fall in love with Cyfie. First there’s the location. This idyllic converted farmhouse is an island of tranquillity. In a superb garden setting (part of the National Garden Scheme), it commands a grand view of the valley below and is close to mountain-ringed Lake Vyrnwy. But there’s nothing remotely rustic about the accommodation. The 17th-century farmhouse has been immaculately refurbished, its oak timbers and inglenook log fireplaces complemented by fabrics and furnishings that blend in beautifully. Cyfie’s prized feature is its choice of luxury stable and barn suites with their own private lounges, sumptuous décor and all the facilities of a top hotel (these are also available for self-catering). Guests also love the spa complex with its hot tub, sauna and stunning views over the Vyrnwy Valley. Add in the warm, relaxing atmosphere and Claire’s delicious cooking based on the very best of local produce and you’ll understand why guests return time and time again. For riding enthusiasts who want to explore the area’s beautiful bridleways there’s stabling provided for two horses.
